An 8-inch plate glazed in a kiln-changed blue that pools deep at the rim and lightens to a mottled sea-green at the centre. Ao (青) is the old Japanese word that covers both blue and green, which is exactly what this glaze does. Good for a main course, a pastry, or nothing at all on the shelf.
