A low, rock-shaped bud vase (ishi, 石) with a narrow 2.7 cm opening that holds one branch, one flower, or a few stems of dried grass upright. The hand-applied glaze pools and breaks over the uneven surface — in shadow white, reef black, caramel green, gilt bronze or plain stone. It sits on a desk or windowsill without asking for room.
