A small monk (kozō, 小僧) in unglazed purple clay with a glazed robe, hands together, eyes closed. On a tea tray he is a “tea pet” — you pour the rinse water over him and the clay darkens and takes on a sheen over the years. Off the tray he is simply good company on a desk or a windowsill.
