A big, flared bowl for ramen, udon and donburi, printed inside with one of two old Japanese patterns: seigaiha, the overlapping blue waves, or tokusa, the fine radiating stripes of the scouring-rush plant. The outside is left in bare, sandy stoneware so the pattern is a surprise as the bowl empties.
