A lidded tea bowl (gaiwan) in clear heat-resistant glass, with a wooden knob on the lid. Drop in a pinch of sencha or oolong, pour water just off the boil, watch the leaves open, then tilt the lid a crack and pour. Because it is glass, you see the colour of every steeping — which is half the pleasure and the whole reason to own one.
